The aim of this study was to examine the help-seeking behaviors of university students, and to determine which help sources are used for which problems. 133 (79 females, 54 males) undergraduate students selected randomly from the Facult of Education of Middle East technical University. In order to measure the help sources of problems, an assessment form was developed by the researchers. Several problem areas were determined by the help of relevant literature. These areas were better specified and stated as items. For each item, formal (doctor, faculty, counselor..etc) and informal sources (friend, family, relative..etc) for help were determined. The assessment form was reviewed by an expert team, and modifications were made accordingly. Descriptive statistics showed that participants seeked help from different sources for different problems. For academic and career problems, the most frequently stated sources were advisor and friends. For family problems, seeking help from a friend was the most frequent source for help.Participnats tended to solve the personal problems by themselves or with the help of a friend. Students with problems such as shyness and pessimism were more likely to seek help from a counselor. For social problems students tended to solve the problems on their own. Economical problems were solvede mostly by the help of father and sibling, and for health problems doctor was the most frequently stated source of help. Finally, for sexual problems, the frequency of seeking help from a counselor is relatively low. Key words : Help-seeking behavior, counselor, psychological help
