Bu araştırmanın amacı, İspanyol yönetmen Pedro Almodovar'ın filmlerinde yer alan homoseksüellerin nasıl tasvir edildiklerini tespit etmektir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olan durum çalışması kullanılmıştır. Araştırma verileri görüntülü doküman incelemesi yoluyla toplanmıştır. Görüntülü dokümanlar, Pedro Almodovar'ın 1980-2009 arasında çektiği 17 uzun metrajlı filmden oluşmaktadır. 17 film izlendikten sonra, homoseksüelleriaçık olarak tasvir eden 3 film: Pepi Luci Bom ve Diğer Kızlar, Tutkunun Kanunu, Kötü Eğitim filmlerinde yer alan homoseksüeller, içerik analizi tekniği kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Homoseksüel karakterleri analiz etmek için kullanılan 92 kod/özellik ortak özellikleri bakımından 8 farklı kategoriye ayrılmıştır. Bu kavramsal kategoriler; antipatik; sevecen; bağımsız; bağımlı; hırslı; zaaf sahibi; kaybeden; temkinliden oluşmaktadır. Francoizm dönemi kimlikleri eleştiren ve her türlü tabunun kaldırılması gerektiğini ileri süren Pedro Almodovar'ın homoseksüel karakterleri yapılan analiz sonucunda; cinsel kimlikler arasındaki geleneksel ilişkilerin devamının karşısında oldukları; mutlak iyi veyahut mutlak kötü olmadıkları; düalist, ikici ve çelişkili oldukları; geleneksel din ve aile algılayışını dekonsrükte ettikleri; her türlü sınırı ve tabuyu kaldırarak hayattan haz almayı temel amaç haline getirdikleri ortaya çıkmıştır.
