Abstract:

The aim of this research was to make validity and reliability studies of Marmara Scale of Social and Emotional Adaptation (which was developed for 6 years old children) for 5 years old children. A total of 876 kindergarteners (405 girls and 471 boys) took part in this study. According to the results of item-analyses, the original scale which consisted of 36 items was reduced to 19 items. The factor analyses indicated four factors. The internal reliability of the scale was calculated with the technique of Cronbach Alpha and it was found to be as satisf actory. Test-retest reliability of the scale was also acceptable. Key words: Social emotional adaptation, preschool, validity, reliability
