This essay examines the press trade bodies in Turkey by setting out to road considering their decisive stance, which caused the Media Association be established. The gist of the starting point of this essay is to understand the reasons of the political opposition going on amongst the trade bodies. Through this research, in which Şerif Mardin’s theory of centre-periphery is employed as analytical tool, the trade bodies are represented in a historical course by executing a conceptual and historical analysis. By employing the opportunities of the centre-periphery conceptualization, a position defining for the press trade bodies and accordingly the Media Association is being taken on. According to the result of this research, one of the fields where a struggle for the power is happening is the press trade bodies and this struggle is going on in accord with the separation points in the centre-periphery theory.
