Within undergraduate piano education of intitutions that educating music teachers contains piano pieces of baroque period. This survey is important in terms of sight-reading progressive of baroque period piano pieces, detection of difficulties related to technical and style charecteristic and providing solutions concerned this difficulties. It`s aimed in this research to detect the difficulties in performing baroque period piano pieces by the students that receiving piano education in the institutions giving piano educating in Turkey at undergraduate education levels of I V. In this research, so as to gather opinion of music teacher candidates, the survey prepared by the researcher has been applied to 172 students from randomly chosen universities. The opinions of music teacher candidates about difficulties in performing baroque period piano pieces has been handled according to class and high school variables. For this purpose, answers to this survey have been analized with SPSS 15.0 software and independent sample t-test was used. As a result, related to the difficulties in performing baroque period piano pieces, almost no significant variation has been detected among the answers given by the university students graduated from Fine Arts High School and other high schools. The university students to whom the survey was applied were chosen among the students of first and forth grades. Besides, It`s also determined that students have difficulties in sight-reading progressive of baroque period piano pieces and they haven`t got enough knowledge about the technical-style characteristic and musical forms.
