Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine how the professional ethics behaviors of secondary school principals are according to the the perceptions of teachers and principals on duty in public secondary schools in city center of Diyarbakır. The population for the study has been consisted of public secondary school teachers and principals in 2013-2014 Academic Year, in city center of Diyarbakır. The sample of the study has been consisted of by choosing 30 school principals and 340 teachers with random method from the population consisting of 54 school principals and 1700 teachers. To collect data, questionnaire improved and used in "A Research on Ethics Behaviors of Education Managers - Sample of the City of Ankara" by Aydın (1997) has been used. The level of significance was taken as 0.05. These are the important consequences of the analysis of the data; According to secondary school teachers and principals' perceptions, no meaningful difference related to ethics behaviors of principals has been determined in all dimensions. In questionnaire, the items having the lowest arithmetic average are "I am attached to national education policies "( = 4,20) according to secondary school principals' perceptions and "Give account of their actions " ( = 3,65) according to secondary school teachers' perceptions. Between secondary school teachers' perceptions related to ethics behaviors of school principals, no meaningful difference has been determined according to "gender, educational status, " variables, but according to " marital status " variable, a meaningful difference has been determined only in "democracy" dimension. According to secondary school principals' perceptions, the arithmetic average of ethics behaviors of school principals ( = 4,65) is at "certainly agree " level but according to secondary school teachers' perceptions, ethics behaviors of principals ( = 4,05) is at "agree" level.
