Bu makalede, Balkanların kalbi mesabesindeki Makedonya’nın günümüzde hala çözümlenemeyen milli kilisesi olan Makedon Ortodoks Kilisesi inceleme konusu edilecektir. Bu bölge bulunduğu konum itibariyle pek çok medeniyete ev sahipliği etmiştir. Tarih içerisinde de pek çok dini ve siyasi çatışmalara sahne olmuştur. Makedon Ortodoks Kilisesi kendini VI. yüzyılda kurulan Justiniyana Prima Başpiskoposluğu’na dayandırır. Ardından XII. yüzyılda kurulan Ohri Başpiskoposluğu ile irtibat kurmuştur.
