Özet:

The aim of this research is to determine the effect of science and technology course that was designed according to metacognitive skills to students' achievement. In the research process, a program which was prepared in accordance with the metacognitive skills was carried out and instruction was supported with science diaries which were designed by researchers. In order to determine students' achievement, pre-test post-test control group experimental design was used. 50 students who studied in 5-A and 5-B classes of Kony Mehmet Özdemir Primary School in 2009-2010 educational year participated in the study and pre-test and post-test were applied to them. In order to analyze the data of the research, standard deviation and t-test were used and analysis was carried out by using SPSS. According to the results of the analysis, there is a significant difference between the post-test scores of the groups in favour of the experimental group.
