Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to explore the problems that are encountered during the pilot applications of FATIH Project (Increasing Opportunities and Improving Technology Movement) from the perspectives of school administrations, teachers and students. A case study method was used. The study was conducted during the 2011-2012 spring semester at two different high schools in Rize. The participants of the study composed of two school administrators, six teachers and thirty 9th grade students. The questionnaire and semi-structured interview form were used as data collection tool. Students were administered the interview and questionnaire while the administrators and teachers were administered only interview. Descriptive and content analysis methods were administered for data analysis. The findings were examined into administrator, teacher, and student. The findings obtained from the school administrators explained under the three main themes encountered while the findings obtained from the teachers were gathered into five main components of FATIH Project. Also, the school administrators and teachers were pointed out the three main problems: teachers' lack of in-service training on this issue, their deficiency in technological literacy, and lack of adequate infrastructure. The students’ problems were focused on four main categories: Tablets, courses, communications, and health.
