So many results that aren't mine?

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to put forth an effort for teacher candidates, who study in the field of fine arts education and pre-school education, to be able to read drawings of children by basing on scientific data and to put forth an effort to be able to carry out an analysis that describes general situation of our country in the field of visual literacy. While "Expository Teaching Strategy" was used as method in this study, in the first step, principles, concepts and generalities were told to students regularly and programmatically and after preparation and being presented of rudiments, subject were supported with examples shown by being told of concrete thought in detail in the first plan. Today, with the texts consisting letters by coming together, that is, with alphabet literacy, humans' communication made by humun biing is no longer sufficient. Thus, educators should be enabled to discuss both words and paintings at elementary schools by starting with especially preschool and to attribute a meaning to them and to learn visual literacy by looking at the thesis that one supports the other and by creating a link between text, colour and paintings with another turn of phrase. To take this education, becoming conscious of teachers, who play the most important role in education of our country, in this subject may be provided with visual literacy course that will be opened, at least as an elective course, at either Department of Fine Arts Education or Department of Preschool Education at Faculties of Education.
