Abstract:

During The Second World War, The Franklin D. Roosevelt Government which prepared national policies known as "economic mobilization", focused on the works aiming at benefiting from the public resources at a maximum level and used propaganda to ensure that these policies are embraced by the masses. To this end, The F. D. Roosevelt Government made use of mass media including radios, cinemas, newspapers and magazines. In addition to this, in order ot ensure the victory, official propaganda centers were created to publish works in accordance with the "national propaganda". In accordance with this approach, which can be exemplified through the institutions including Office of War Information, War Manpower Commision ve Women’s Bureau of the Department of Labor the needs of the country were transmitted to the public and feedbacks were received. The posters, which are the main subject matter of the text, are one of the tools utilized by the government for propaganda. Within this scope, the fact that these propaganda posters focus on the values such as patriotism, independance, sacrifice and liberty is highligted. From this point, another assertion of the text is that, the understanding of propaganda in the United States was mainly emotional
