Farklı alanlarda ihtiyaç duyulan nitelikli meslek elemanı yetiştirme misyonuna sahip olan meslek yüksekokulları, özellikle sosyal bilimler alanında mesleki bilgilerin uygulamaya dönüştürülmesi için gerekli ortamları oluşturmakta yetersiz kalmaktadır. Bilgisayar odaklı bir simülasyon uygulaması olarak tasarlanmış olan “Sanal İşletme Uygulaması” alt yapı projesi, işletme ve muhasebe eğitiminin uygulama yönünü geliştirmek amacıyla Çanakkale Sosyal Bilimler Meslek Yüksekokul bünyesinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, “Sanal İşletme Uygulaması” nın işletme ve muhasebe eğitimin gelişimine olan etkisini, simülasyon odaklı eğitim uygulamalarının literatürde ifade edilen faydaları bağlamında ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmada, araştırma yöntemi olarak örnek olay yöntemi kullanılmış ve araştırma verileri, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme ve katılımlı gözlem yöntemleri ile elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler ise betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılarak, araştırma soruları kapsamında belirlenmiş temalara göre analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre, “Sanal İşletme Uygulaması” nın sosyal bilimler alanında simülasyon odaklı bir eğitim aracı olarak kullanılması; teorik bilgilerin uygulamaya dönüştürülmesini, gerçek bir çalışma ortamı yaratarak, öğrencilerin işletme içindeki işleyişi kavranmalarını ve iş dünyasına hazır hale gelmelerini sağlamaktadır.
