Abstract:

Family violence is a widespread problem that occurs among all ages, society, educational backgrounds and socioeconomic groups. These problems can exist independently or in combination in the same household. Violence and the threat of violence at home creates fear and can destroy normal family functioning. Violence in the home also affects specially vvomen and child. Living with domestic violence can cause physical and emotional harm to all family members. This article provides an overview of the subject of intimate violence in family and social area. Publication about violence aganist family member and emotional, cognitive-physical effects and family dynamics of violence are reviewed and the concept of the violence aganist family member and social trend to this concept are evaluated. The health sector, including clinical and public health services, is expected to play important roles in identifying and supporting abused women and child in Turkey. In this respect; with the support and guidance of families and communities interventions are needed to prevent violence and teach youth to approcach conflict using adaptive and nonviolent problem-solving skills.
