Türkiye Cumhuriyeti tarafından 10 Temmuz 1925 tarihinde Larnaka’da bir konsolosluk açıldı. Denizcilikten emekli Asaf Bey buraya Konsolos (şehbender) olarak atandı. Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin ideallerine bağlı olan Asaf Bey, Kıbrıs’ın genel durumu ve Kıbrıs Türkleriyle ilgili raporlar hazırladı. Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı’na gönderdiği 24 Nisan 1927 tarihli raporda, Kıbrıs’ta Türk ve Rum toplumlarının eğitim hayatından bahsedilmektedir. Raporda ayrıca, Türkiye’den gelen Türk Lisesi Müdürü Kâzım Nami (Duru) Bey ile Kız Lisesi Müdiresi Suad Said Hanım hakkındaki intibalarına da yer verilmiştir. Makalede, günümüz yazısına çevirdiğimiz bu rapor çerçevesinde, Kıbrıs’ta eğitim hayatı ve teşkilatından bahsedilecektir
A consulate was opened in Larnaca by the Republic of Turkey on July 10, 1925. Mr. Asaf, retired from Marine Consul was appointed here as a consul. Mr. Asaf connected to the ideals of the Republic of Turkey, has prepared reports on the overall situation of Cyprus and Turkish Cypriots. The report sent to the Ministry of Education dated April 24, 1927 included educational life of the Greek and Turkish communities in Cyprus. The report also includes impressions about the Mr. Kazim Nami, Turkish High School Director, and Mrs. Suad Said, Girls High School Headmistress. In this article, it will be mentioned the life and organization of education in Cyprus in the framework of this report which is translated into today's text.
