Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to investigate the information resources used in order to obtain necessary knowledge about marriage and premarital training needs of the university students. The sample of the study consists of 325 students attending various faculties of Gaziantep University. The Demographic Information Form and Premarital Training Needs Questionnaire developed by the researcher were used in order to collect the data in the study.In the study, it has been found that university students learn information pertaining to marital life by talking with their friends, observing married individuals and through TV programs. It has been determined that the students would like to improve themselves about developing dedication and communication skills between partners, learning how to be parents and about prevention of divorces. Most of the university students have expressed that they want to undergo training before marriage and attend when they do not have such relationships yet.
