In this article, the historical progress of the establishment of the prisoners organizations and general situation of the prisoners were examined in the pre-Islamic era and in first three century of Islamic period in two sections. In the first section, following the brief introduction to the philological structure of the prison and prisoner life concepts, the structural and operational function of the prisonal organizations and a few examples for the prisoners lives in the time of the Prophet Mohammed, Rightly Guided Caliphates, Umayyed, and Abbasid Caliphates have been studied. In addition to this historical information, the structural and operational parameters of the prisons and daily life of the imprisoned people have been investigated. Despite the importance of human rights, which is widely covered and accepted by the Islamic Religion itself, we have indicated that the construction of the prisonal buildings, life conditions of the imprisonment’s and the seriousness of the human rights violations in the Islamic period of time were terrible with the exception of a few well practice of some caliphates. In the second section, the prisonal components and the life conditions of the prisoners according to the Islamıc Law and the reflection of those rules into the daily practice of the prisoners have been examined. Later, the physical structures of the prisons and the life conditions of the prisoners were also investigated and compared with the prisons of the modern world in terms of appropriateness of the basic prisoners’ life conditions. We have concluded that with a general evaluation examining the staff dialogue with prisoners.
