As is well known there had been some wars such as Badr, Uhud and Dich wars in the time of the Prophet Muhammad. While Muslims had been gaining great successes in some of these wars, they had been failed in some of them also. In the light of some Qur’anic verses concerning these wars it has been argued that the successes in these wars are due to Allah’s divine assistance. Since according to this argument Allah has sended His angels in order to support Muslims against infidals in these wars. But on the other hand it is pointed out that failures in these wars, too, were due to Muslims’ own faults. It seems to us that there is a controversy in these two argument. Since by depending on some of the Qur’anic verses on the one hand it argued that in some wars which Muslims were succesful Allah assisted Muslims by sending His angels, on the other hand in some wars which Muslims were not succesful Allah did not send His angels to support Muslims. By taking into account this controversy in this article it is dealt with the issue of divine assistance in its whole dimensions by questioning its possibility and limits.
