Abstract:

Dialect studies have especially recently become one of the fields of great interest, which is concerned with the studies on the Science of Being Turkish. Studies on the subject aim to compare more than one dialect from different points of view as well as to determine the characteristics of a dialect in a particular region. Today, there exist a number of studies in Turkey, which make, from different perspectives, a comparison between the dialects within the boundaries of Turkey or any Turkish dialect out of Turkey with the main sources of Turkish language, a number of various uses of Turkish in different periods and Turkish dialects. This study will focus on the comparative dialect studies carried out in Turkey with an emphasis on the importance of comparative dialect research. The information presented in the studies concerned with post-graduate thesis was given with the permission of the authors of the ‘national thesis center’ on the public network of the Board of Higher Education.
