It is necessary to teach both human rights and responsibility education in elementary schools. In this study, it was aimed to make clear the current status of human rights and responsibility education in Turkish Education System. Therefore, life studies textbooks and social studies textbooks used in elementary schools were analyzed using content analysis method. As a result, it was found that, generally, the subjects about human rights took place more than the subjects on responsibility in the textbooks. Responsibility education was more concentrated in the first grades while human rights education was more intensive in the advanced grades.
