The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the occupation choice reasons and the vocational group guidance on the congruence of the self and the occupation concepts based on Super's (1957; 1963a) self-concept theory. The research group consists of 52 first grade college students (28 male and 24 female) attending the psychological counseling and guidance program. The research designed in pre-posttest experimental design without control group. Two experiment groups were composed from the research group, based on the reason of choice career. The experiment groups attended vocational group guidance designed for increasing the congruence of self and occupation concept. Two parallel forms of adjective lists developed for this research were used to gather data. Data were analyzed by using Kappa coefficients. Findings indicated that (a) the reasons of choosing career effected the congruence of the self and the occupation concepts and (b) the degree of the congruence of the self and the occupation concepts increased significantly after the occupational group guidance.
