It is necessary to step forward, in order to decrease crimes in the countries. Decreasing crime is possible by removing preconditions of actions which can be caused crimes. The studies related to determining preconditions make important advantages in decreasing crimes. Hence, it is important to determine how types of crime vary according to educational levels. If it is determined that people in various educational levels commit different crimes, this will make an important contribution in the studies of decreasing crimes. The main reason of this study is to investigate how the types of crimes vary with respect to educational levels in Turkey. Here, the data related to 23600 prisoners who entered to the prison in 2001 in Turkey are used. The variables of educational level and types of crime are non-metric variables. In this study, we used correspondence analysis, an inductive statistical technique that is suitable for exploring relations among categorical variables. From the analyses done here, it is seen that types of crime differ with respect to educational level. The results are interpreted and some recommendations are given to the researches and practitioners who work on this subject.
