Aim of the research is to determine in what degree teachers pay attention student characteristics when they have high and low expectations about their students. Subjects were 900 school of education students, 456 middle school students and 213 high school students. It was investigated that to what degree teachers take into consideration student characteristics in forming expectations about their students. Student characteristics included physical appearance, quality of the cloths, speaking style and academic achievement. Findings indicated that teachers were affected by the student characteristics in developing high and low expectations. Results showed that female teachers and teachers with experience more than 16 years were highly affected by student characteristics.
