The migration, which is considered a change movement with a multi-faceted impact, is a significant process for both immigrant individuals and the local people living in the migrated place. As a result of the living migration, the individual who migrates to the place where he migrates and to the individuals there, and the individual in the place where he migrates to the individuals who come with the migration movement, is a very important and intensely studied topic in literature. In this context, the concepts that are frequently included in the integration process and integration policies, such as social harmony, social acceptance and social distance, also make it important to make a bilateral assessment of both the immigrant and the local people in gaining a multi-dimensional meaning. The aim of this study is to determine the local population’s social distance towards the Syrians in Turkey. For this purpose, 300 participants working in a textile enterprise operating in Sakarya were surveyed based on Bogardus’s Social Distance Scale and the surveys were analyzed with SPSS 22. The results of the analysis have found that the indigenous people have a high degree of social distance from the Syrians and that the social distance will not change even if the current conditions change.
