Bu çalışma, 1990’larda dünyada yaşanan siyasal değişimlerin Güneydoğu Avrupa’daki güç dengeleri üzerindeki etkilerini ifade etmekte; bu bağlamda çalışma, neo-realist bir bakış açısıyla Makedonya İsim Sorunu’nun Türkiye ve Yunanistan’ın bu dönemdeki ilişkilerine yansımasını açıklamaktadır. Çalışma üç ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölüm neo-realist teorinin temel ilkeleri doğrultusunda sistemsel değişimlerin politika yapım sürecini nasıl etkilediği sorusunu cevaplamaktadır. İkinci bölüm Makedonya İsim Krizi’ni farklı boyutlarıyla ele almakta; iki ülkenin, Türkiye ve Yunanistan, söz konusu krize yönelik politik tavrını incelemektedir. Üçüncü bölüm ise Makedonya İsim Krizi’nin Türkiye ve Yunanistan ilişkilerindeki konumunu dengeleme siyaseti ile ilgili olarak açıklamaktadır.
This study reflects the influence of the political changes in the world in the 1990s on power balances in Southeast Europe; in this context, the study, from a neo-realist perspective, explains the reflection of the Macedonian Name Problem in the relations between Turkey and Greece in this period. The work consists of three main sections. The first chapter responds to the question of how systemic changes affect the process of policy-making in accordance with the fundamental principles of the neo-realist theory. The second part is discussing the Macedonian Name Crisis in different dimensions; the two countries, Turkey and Greece, are examining the political attitude towards the crisis. The third chapter describes the position of the Macedonian Name Crisis in the relations between Turkey and Greece as regards the policy of balance.
