Abstract:

The aim of this research is to reveal the knowledge of the parents about the application of the classrooms and their thoughts about the effects of this practice on their children from an academic, social and psychological point of view. In this study, the phenomenological pattern has been used. The data was collected through conversations with the guardians and the content analysis technique was used. Opinions on the application of level classrooms from the point of view of the tutors involved in the study consist of four main topics: "The meaning of level classrooms", "The measurements for creating level classrooms", "The positive and negative aspects of the application of level classrooms" and "Thoughts of the tutors related to the application". The level classes are defined as the grouping of students that are academically close success by the tutors. On the subject of the standards of establishment of the classroom level, the tutors have emphasized that, in addition to the academic achievements of students, the status and attitudes of students, the teachers' attitudes, the achievements in art and sports activities should also be taken into account. In the topic of the positive and negative aspects of the application of the level classrooms, the parents have emphasized that the application is effective in terms of their children’s learning at their own cognitive speeds but their negative aspects in terms of friendship relationships and the creation of anxiety, stress in children. The theme of the thoughts of the practitioners concerning the practice is addressed in the sub-themes of positive and negative thinking.
