Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı güncellenen fen bilgisi öğretim programını ve fen bilimlerinde yaşanan gelişmeleri dikkate alarak öğrencilerin fen bilimleri dersine yönelik tutumlarını belirlemek amacıyla geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı geliştirmektir. Konu ile ilgili ölçek maddesi oluşturmak için literatür taraması ve öğrencilerle görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırma, var olan durumu olduğu gibi betimlediği için betimsel tarama özelliği göstermektedir. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen ''Fen Bilimleri Tutum Ölçeği'' kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini, 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılında Erzurum iline bağlı ortaokullarda öğrenim gören öğrenciler oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada olasılığa dayalı örnekleme türlerinden grup (cluster) örneklem türü seçilmiştir. Ölçek maddeleri 196 sekizinci sınıf öğrencisine uygulanmıştır. Ölçeğin yapı geçerliliğini belirlemek amacıyla açımlayıcı ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizi yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışmanının örneklem uyum testi kritik değer için yeterli bulunmuştur. Faktör analizi sonucunda, Ölçeğin toplamda üç faktöre sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Faktör analizinden sonra her bir faktörün güvenirlikleri hesaplanmıştır. Veri analizleri tamamlandıktan sonra faktörlerin güvenirlik katsayıları (Cronbach Alpha) hesaplanmıştır. Güvenirlik katsayılarına göre faktörlerin oldukça güvenilir olduğu görülmüştür. Sonuçlar ve Öneriler: Çalışmada öğrencilerin fen bilimleri dersine yönelik tutumlarını ölçmek için geçerli ve güvenilir tutum ölçeği geliştirilmiştir. Geliştirilen bu ölçek ile yeni fen bilimleri öğretim programının öğrenciler üzerinde oluşturduğu etkinin kolaylıkla anlamlandırılabileceği düşünülmektedir.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable instrument to measure students' attitudes towards science course in line with the revised science curriculum and the developments in science. Literature review and interviews with students were carried out in order to generate an item pool for the scale. Method: The study employs a descriptive survey model. "Attitudes Scale for Science Course", developed by the researcher, was used as the data collection tool in the study. The population of the research consists of students attending to lower secondary schools in Erzurum in 2016/2017 academic year. The participants were selected through cluster sampling method. 196 eight grade students took the scale. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were carried out to test the construct validity. Findings: Sampling adequacy of the study was found above the threshold values. The factor analysis resulted in a scale form with three factors. Following the factor analysis, the reliability of each factor was calculated. After the data analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficients were calculated for reliability, which proved that the factors had high reliability. Implications & Suggestions: In the study, a valid and reliable attitude scale was developed in order to measure students' attitudes towards science course. Through this scale, the effect of the new curriculum on the students can be understood.
