Abstract:

With the influence of globalization, the company’s acquisition and unification, which has increased rapidly, has become more and more important in our country in recent years, especially because of the company’s growth strategies, the entrance to new markets, the structure of their activities and the spread to a wider range. The importance of this is that the influence of the company’s merger and purchases on the stock markets, which are subject to different studies, is among the topics of great interest in the financial paper. In this study, it is intended to study the short-term impact of the acquisitions and joints of the companies that are trading in the Stock Exchange in Istanbul on the price of shares. The purpose of separate analysis is to investigate which sectors are more efficient in combinations. This was confirmed and the study was conducted by determining the unification and acquisition of companies registered in the BIST in the first 4 sectors in which much purchase and merger transactions occurred between 2013 and 2016.
