Abstract:

The press, in terms of its functions and position, has become interconnected with the public, politics and political institutions; it has become an important instrument in the transmission of politics and political directions to the public. The humor that we can consider as an inseparable branch of the press is of great importance both in terms of keeping the pulse of society and in terms of keeping it a mirror to political developments. The Weekly Political Humor newspaper Tef was first published on August 7, 1954. The second broadcast period of Tef, which was closed on 13 August 1955 after 54 numbers, was the first political intervention of the army during the Republican period after the 27th May 1960 Conflict. The second period of Tef began to reappear on 22 June 1960. Tef's broadcast life, published 48 numbers, lasted until May 17, 1961. In this study, which carries the character of a qualitative historical design, the 48th number of Tef has been studied. In addition, some major examples of the political position of the newspaper have been drawn up with illustrative analysis in order to comment on. The humorous newspaper, which appreciates the National Union Committee, shows that Prime Minister Adnan Menderes and his friends have already been executed on paper. The results of the assessments show that the symbolic executions cartoonists perform with a feeling of revenge abuse the power of the cartoon to influence social and political events.
