In this study it is aimed at identifying the relationship between social skills and self esteem in secondary school students with visual impairments. The participants of the study are 87 students with visual impairments who attend secondary school in inclusive education or in special education schools in Ankara in the educational year of 2015-2016. To evaluate social skills Matson Evaluation of Social Skills with Youngsters (MESSY), and to evaluate self esteem Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale are applied to the students in the study based on Correlational Scanning Model. To collect data about the demographic characteristics of the students Personal Information Form is also used. The data collected by these means are analysed using IBM SPSS v21 application. According to the findings obtained by statistical and descriptive analysis it is identified that the social skills of the students with visual impairments display significant differences compared to their self esteem. According to this, as the self esteem of the students increase it is identified that their social skills also increase in a positive direction. It is determined that self esteem and social skills are at high levels according to the scores that the students with visual impairments get in both scales which are of the self report type. The findings obtained have been discussed by examining the related literature and suggestions have been made.
