Abstract:

Traditional music in South America is extremely rich due to the historic process the continent has passed through and the cultural diversity of the communities it hosts. The cultural fabric of the continent carries the traces of indigenous peoples, communities brought as slaves from various regions of Africa and colonials from Europe. In this study, milonga, tango and choro dances, which make up an important part of the contemporary classic guitar repertoire, will be discussed in the context of their origins, rhythmic structures, characteristic characteristics. These dance forms will be studied by giving examples of the works that South American composers, such as A. Fleury, A. Piazzolla, J. Pernambuco, H.Villa Lobos, made for guitar in the 20th century. Dance forms and works have been chosen by monitoring the play popularity in the classical guitar field. Similarly, the conversion of traditional South American music by composers into original works and their contribution to the guitar repertoire will be revealed. Our work is aimed at contributing to the guitars and educators in this field.
