Abstract:

Increases in trade union rates and reduced participation in trade unions indicate the existence of problems with trade unions in Turkey. With regard to this problem, individuals are presented with different reasons, such as the views of the trade unions, the changing employment structure, unemployment. In this case, it is necessary to find solutions to the causes of the problem. Young unemployed people who have the potential to be members and reach high numbers in their workplace position have an important place in the thinking of the unions to increase their unionship rates. For this reason, it is necessary to reveal the union perceptions of the young unemployed, which is important for the present and future of the unions, in terms of comments on the unions they have developed depending on the warnings from their environment. For this purpose, the perspectives of the young unemployed towards unions are presented in this study. Accordingly, descriptive and predictive statistical methods are used in the analysis of the data obtained from 186 unemployed young people who applied to İŞ-KUR to look for a job and were born between 1980-1995. According to the results of the research, union perception; there is no difference in terms of gender, marital status, education level and being a unionized employee in the family. In addition, most of the young unemployed are undecided about union membership. There are close opinions about the protection of the rights of workers. The topics that trade unions need to provide priority education should be trade union knowledge and health safety. Young unemployed people often use technology to access trade union information as a result of their age. The results of this study are believed to be a guide to the trade unions about how the trade union structures and trade union strategies for young unemployed should be.
