Abstract:

The other, which is seen as a form of self-definition, is used in the historical context as a form of telling what is different. The other thing occurs in the form of view, stereotype, marking, preliminary judgment, selfishment and exclusion. Since the history of mankind, many kinds of self-definition have emerged, individuals have identified themselves as “other/other” to define themselves. In the study, the Chinese people who were exposed to ethnosentric self-determination were discussed. The Chongqing people who live as a community of immigrants have faced a number of exclusive identifications that have been isolated in every country they go. The objective of this study is to explore the self-development problems that the Chiens have experienced in a historic framework and to emphasize that the cinema, which is an art branch, should be more inclined to the excluded people, such as the Chiens. The film was directed by Tony Gatlif, Korkoro (Freedom, Tony Gatlif, 2010). The director tells the traumatic events in the film that a real Chinese family has lived. The Korkoro film was chosen because it was directly matched with the work. During the film analysis, Derrida’s deconstructive method was chosen as a method. The film was analyzed on the basis of 5 questions identified by the New Mexico Literacy Project. Although the Western films are not all studied individually, in general, it is clear that non-Chinese-born directors are not too inclined to the issue of the autonomization of the Chinese. Therefore, in literary work or in film review, it has been concluded that Western directors should make more films about the autonomization of the Chinese.
