Bu çalışmada, Maren Ade’nin yönetmenliğini yaptığı Toni Erdmann (2016) filmi, modern kent yaşamı, rekabetçi iş ilişkileri, aylaklık ve modern bireyin duygusal olarak bağlanamama sorunu bağlamında analiz edilmektedir. Çalışmada, günümüz modernliğinin, aile ilişkilerini de tahrip edebilen özelliklerine, filmdeki baba kız ilişkisi ve modern yaşam içinde yitip giden diğer insani ilişkiler ekseninde odaklanılmaktadır. Çalışmada, modernliğin bireyselleşme, yersiz yurtsuzlaşma, rekabet, rasyonellik gibi özelliklerinin filmsel anlatıya aktarılması değerlendirilmekte filmin toplumsal ve kültürel bir eleştiri metni olarak önemi ortaya konmaya çalışılmaktadır. Çalışmanın amacı, Maren Ade’nin modernizme toplumsal ve kültürel eleştiriler getiren Toni Erdmann filminde, tematik ve sinematografik tercihleriyle ne tür bir söylem ortaya koyduğunu araştırmaktır. Bu noktada, film, bu kahramanların iş ve aile yaşamındaki eylemleri ve ifadeleri üzerinden analiz edilmektedir. Çalışma, sinema filmini, bir modernizm eleştiri metni olarak ele alması bakımından önem taşımaktadır. Sonuç olarak, filmde, modernliğin bireyler üzerinde yarattığı tahribatların, modern kentler, aile ilişkileri, iş yaşamındaki rekabet ve hırs dolayımıyla gösterildiği kadın kahramanın bu zorlu ortamdan arınabilmesinin, babasının ona gösterdiği insani ilişkiler geliştirme ve yaşamı eğlenceli kılma yoluyla olduğu vurgulanmaktadır.
In this study, Toni Erdmann (2016) film, directed by Maren Ade, is analyzed in the context of the problem of modern urban life, competitive business relationships, distinction and the emotional unconnection of the modern individual. The study focuses on the characteristics of today’s modernity, which can destroy family relationships, the father’s girl relationship in the film and other human relationships that are missing in modern life. The study assesses the transfer of the characteristics of modernity, such as individualization, unfair domestication, competition, rationality to the film story; the role of the film as a social and cultural criticism text is attempted to reveal. The aim of the study is to explore what kind of speech Maren Ade has shown in Toni Erdmann's film, which brings social and cultural criticism to modernism, with his thematic and cinematographic preferences. At this point, the film is analyzed through the actions and expressions of these heroes in the business and family life. The study has an importance in terms of the film being viewed as a modernism critic text. As a result, the film emphasizes that the destruction that modernity creates on individuals is shown through modern cities, family relationships, competition and ambition in business life; that the female hero can get rid of this challenging environment, through the development of the human relationships his father shows him and making life fun.
