Abstract:

This study focuses on women’s lonely travel experiences. In this context, the main purpose of the research is to determine why women travel alone, what are the criteria for the choice of destination and what they experience during the journey, i.e. their travel experiences. For the purposes specified, the quality data was obtained through a structured conversation form. For the purpose of sample selection and using the cartridge sample technique, data from 33 female participants were collected. The data is subject to content analysis and visual analysis. The findings from the research found that women traveling alone began to travel with the desire to be free/independent, to be renewed by discovering themselves and to be alone. Again, the research results have shown that the important factor in the choice of a destination is safety. In addition, despite the risks of traveling alone, the influence of positive factors, such as personal development, the acquisition of new friendship, the positive support of the local people, has also concluded that women have gained courage and will continue to travel alone.
