Ekonomik özgürlüğe sahip olma isteği insanlar için en temel haklardan biridir. Emek piyasasında kadınların istihdam konusunda ayrımcılıkla karşı karşıya kalması, toplum refahını olumsuz etkileyen bir unsurdur. Bu çalışmanın amacı, MENA (Orta Doğu ve Kuzey Afrika) ülkelerine ait veriler yardımıyla sektörel kadın istihdamı ile kalkınma arasındaki ilişkiyi araştırmaktır. Çalışmanın ampirik analizi için 1991-2017 arası veriler ve panel veri analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgular, sanayi sektöründeki kadın istihdamı ile kalkınma arasında çift yönlü ve hizmet sektöründeki kadın istihdamından kalkınmaya doğru tek yönlü nedensellik ilişkisi olduğunu göstermektedir. Bu sonuca göre, MENA ülkelerinin kalkınma sürecinde sanayi ve hizmet sektöründe istihdam edilen kadınların rolü önem arz etmektedir.
The desire to obtain economic freedom is one of the most basic rights for all. Discrimination against women in the labour market is a factor that negatively affects the well-being of society. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between sectoral female employment and development with the help of MENA (Middle East and North Africa) data. For the empirical analysis of the study, between 1991-2017 data and panel data analysis method are used. The findings of the study show that there is a unidirectional causality from female employment in industry and service sectors to development. In addition, there is a unidirectional causality relationship from development to employment of men working in agriculture and services. According to this result, the role of women employed in the industry and service sectors in the development process of the MENA countries is important.
