İkinci Dünya Savaşı’nın çıktığı gün Avrupa’ya nasıl bir durum hâkimdi? Gitgide yaklaşan savaşın farkında olan Avrupa’nın büyük güçleri, buna hazırlıklı mıydı? Ortam nasıldı, nasıl bir gelişme göster-di. Yazıda savaşın başladığı gün Avrupa’da durum ele alınmakta ve siyasi, askeri, teknolojik, ekonomik ve sosyal ve psikolojik durum olmak üzere beş başlık altında incelenmekte ve analiz edilmektedir. İkinci Dünya Savaşı, hızlı ve değişken yapısıyla önceki savaşlardan farklı seyretmiştir. Özellikle ilk ya-rısında sürprizleri bol olan bir savaştır. Savaşın hızlı seyretmesi ve sürekli yeni sürprizleri de beraberinde getirmesi, tarafların savaş öncesinde yaptıkları hazırlıklar ve savaş sırasında bu hazırlıkların yeterliğiyle yakından ilgilidir. Dolayısıyla savaşın seyrini etkileyen şartları, ancak savaşın başladığı günkü duru¬mu inceleyerek anlayabiliriz.
What was the situation in Europe on the day of the Second World War? Were the great powers of Europe, aware of the coming war, prepared for it? How the environment was, how the development was. The paper discusses the situation in Europe on the day of the war and is examined and analyzed under five titles: political, military, technological, economic and social and psychological situation. The Second World War, with its rapid and variable structure, looked different from the previous wars. Especially in the first round, there is a lot of surprises. The rapid sight of the war and the constant bringing of new surprises are closely related to the preparations of the parties before the war and the sufficiency of these preparations during the war. Therefore, the conditions that influence the course of the war can be understood only by examining the current state of the war began.
