Abstract:

The cinema produces its texts as an art branch using the common cultural and artistic heritage of mankind. The myths that people have created from the prehistoric ages to explain nature and the facts they do not understand, continues to exist today. According to the intertext approach based on the identification of the relationships between different texts; film content is the subject of examination, as in other literary and artistic texts. According to literature and cinema theorists, the content that the cinema spreads and shapes according to the audience is used at the level of adaptation to myths or references. In this study, the myth and intertext concepts were first explained by linking to the cinema. To show that the film texts contain intertext references that live myths in the modern world, Odise Miti and O Brother Where Art Thou? Where are you brother? - Joel Coen, 2000) film is compared. The methods of "disciplinary resolution" and "disciplinary resolution" which form a bridge between formalism and structuralism proposed by Russian folk scientist Vladimir Propp (Parsa, 1999, p.18) focused on formal similarities between texts; the purpose of the text resolution and the detection of similarities at the structural level.
