Abstract:

Ulukale Village, 30 km from the centre of Çemişgezek. In the east, the center of Tunceli is 93 km. It is located in the west. The XVI. In the century, Ulukale, located in a district center connected to the Cemişgezek Sancağı, is known for its Ottoman era structures.  The archaeological surface research has shown that the beginning of the Ulukale settlement history is based on the Iron Age. Helenistic - some architectural remains of Ulukale, represented by a rock tomb in the Roman era, can also be documented before the Middle Ages. The historic settlement of Ulukale, which has no remarkable archaeological remains of the Middle Ages, which is characterized by turbine, fountain, hamam, mosque, church and civil architecture, has found life primarily in the Ottoman era. The settlement, which continues to exist from the Iron Age of Ulukale to the present day, covers an approximately 3,000-year period without a periodic interruption, and the best preserved Ottoman Period structures are the main historical and cultural heritage of Ulukale.
