Abstract:

The aim of this research is to determine the perceptions of primary school students of their families about the concept of "Children's Rights" through metaphors. The research was carried out in the spring period of the 2017-2018 academic year. The study included 223 families, including 157 mothers and 66 fathers, who continued their children to study primary school. The research has used the phenomenology design from the quality research methods to determine the "Child Rights" metaphors of families. “The children’s rights are the rights. Because...” the form was gathered through the form of the metafor prepared open end and the families were asked to fill this form. The data obtained is subject to content analysis from the quality data analysis techniques. According to the study, families have developed a total of 209 metafors on children’s rights. This situation is interpreted in the way that families are aware of the rights of children and are willing to contribute to this research. The metaphors developed were gathered in 5 categories according to the similar aspects of the articles contained in the Convention on the Rights of the Child, including "Right to Live", "Right to Protection", "Right to Development", "Right to Participate" and "Execution of Rights". Parents have developed a metafor in all categories in the category of Rights Execution, in the category of Rights of Participation. As a result, the protection of the rights of the child by the families has been seen as an important and necessary fact that should not be admitted.
