Reading understanding and making inferences from a text is important for all individuals as well as for prospective teachers who are the teachers of the future. Although making inferences from a text seems necessary for verbal fields, it is especially important for mathematics and science. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the differences of prospective elementary mathematics and science teachers' inference scores according to grade level, department and gender. In this context, a data collection tool consisting of 12 items was applied to 731 prospective elementary school mathematics and science teachers and the results were analyzed with statistical methods. According to the results, it was observed that the inference levels of prospective elementary school mathematics and science teachers were low and the inference scores did not differ according to the department and grade level, but there were some differences according to department and gender together.
