Kişilik bireylerin mesleki yaşantılarının ve kariyer gelişimlerinin her aşamasında rol oynayan önemli bir kavramdır. Bu çalışmada ülke ekonomisinde önemli görevler üstlenen muhasebe meslek mensuplarının kişilik özelliklerinin tespit edilmesi ve bu özelliklerin işe bağlılıkları üzerindeki etkisinin araştırılması amaçlanmaktadır. Beş faktör kişilik modelinden yararlanılarak gerçekleştirilen çalışmada, Samsun ilindeki muhasebe meslek mensupları örneklem olarak seçilmiştir. Yapılan analizin sonucunda muhasebe meslek mensuplarının, duygusal olarak dengeli, dışadönük, deneyime açık, geçimli ve sorumluluk bilinci yüksek bireyler olduğu, işe bağlılıklarının ise orta düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Kişiliğe yönelik beş boyuttan sadece duygusal dengelilik ve sorumluluk boyutu ile işe bağlılık arasında pozitif yönde zayıf bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmanın bir diğer sonucu ise dışadönüklerin içe dönüklere göre, yeniliğe açık olanların tutuculara göre ve sorumluların sorumluluğu düşük olanlara göre işlerine daha fazla bağlı olduklarıdır.
Personality is an important concept that plays a role in every phase of professional life and career development of individuals. In this study, it is aimed to determine the personality traits of professional accountants who undertake important tasks in the national economy and to investigate the effect of these traits on their job commitment. In the study, which was undertaken by using the five-factor personality model, the accounting professionals in San Francisco were selected as samples. As a result, it was concluded that accounting professionals are generally individuals who are emotionally balanced, extroverted, open to experience, have high level of responsibility while their job commitment is moderate. Neuroticism (emotional stability) and consciousness are the dimensions that have a positive correlation with job satisfaction. Another result of the study is that the extroverts are more committed to their jobs than introverts and individuals who are open to experience and more conscious are more committed to their jobs respectively than conventional and less conscious individuals as well.
