Abstract:

In this article, we will explore the responsibility of the Punctum concept in the moving image field, which Roland Barthes has described in his book Camera Lucida. Roland Barthes used the word "caso" when describing Punctum and claimed that it can only be found in fixed images taken from real life. Nowadays, the images are mostly reversible and can be stopped. This is why Punctum can be noticed in every area of the moving image. The article that will be based on this claim will be explained in detail the concept of Punctum and will be given examples. In the second part, the limits of the Punctum concept will be extended, taking into account the relationship of the images with time. In the final section, the place of the "casus" phenomenon in the artistic conjoint will be examined. The artistic and sociological potential in which the connection between moving image and accident can be created will be open to discussion. Video examples to be studied throughout the article are examples that are considered to meet the conceptual integrity of Punctum, selected from many areas of moving image, such as video art, cinema, animation, buluntu videos and live broadcast recordings.
