This study aims to identify the communication qualities displayed by the first-grade teachers in Aksaray during the first literacy teaching. Within the study, the case study approach which is a qualitative research method, was employed. The study was conducted on 10 classroom teachers working in the first grade of a primary school. The research data were collected through a "Teachers' Communication Qualities Observation Form" and semi-structured interviews. The data were analyzed using the content analysis method. The results showed that, whereas teachers' communication qualities are adequate at the sub-dimension of individual characteristics, they need to be supported at the sub-dimensions aiming to support language development.
