Özet:

Many local government units, mainly the metropolitan municipalities take place in international cooperation more since the 2000s in Turkey. International organizations which the local governments are a member of, are formed of different local government units coming together. The fields of work, decision and executive bodies and the forms of operation of the international organizations can vary. In this study, it is aimed to research the United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA), which the Turkish local governments are highest in number one member of. Accordingly, the vision, mission, purposes, structure of the organization and membership statements and the studies in the UCLG-MEWA regulations are taken as the basis of this study. First of all, detailed information about UCLG-MEWA, the number of local governments which are a member of this organization in Turkey, distribution according to the cities and local government units are included in the study. Following, the survey method was conducted by reaching out to all local governments which are a member of the organization. Cronbach alpha, frequency, factor and regression analyses are applied to the obtained data. The results show that the UCLG-MEWA is functional in the context of the statements directed to the participants.
