Author:
Abstract:

In this study, the Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis is investigated in Turkey using yearly data from 1960 to 2010. For this purpose, a cubic model is used. In the model, the relationships among carbon dioxide emissions, income, and energy consumption are examined, and ARDL bounds testing method is employed as the econometric method. According to the findings obtained, a result that can support EKC hypothesis is not met in the long term. Besides, the findings show that energy consumption affects carbon monoxide emissions positively in the long term. In this framework, especially the importance of renewable energy policies is emphasized in order to reduce the environmental pollution.
