The problem of current account deficit (CAD) has often become discussable in the world and Turkey. Discussion has been concentrated on the causes and financing of CAD. Like many developed countries and developing countries, Turkey also has CAD, partly depending on the imports of capital goods – generally, in parallel with the economic growth it sustained. In our study, the empirical aspect of the relationship between CAD problem and the capital goods imports was investigated. On this subject, the thesis that CAD is resulted from the increase of demand, which argued in the literature, was studied from the aspect of imports of capital goods; with moving from this result, whether or not there is any relationship between CAD, growth, and imports of capital goods was attempted to be presented, if available, in which direction it was. While a number of econometric analysis between CAD and growth was realized, here, the imports of capital goods that is in the position of a third variable - as both cause and effect of growth - were added. These three variables of interest are extremely important to the policies that are applied and possible to be applied.
