Abstract:

Recently, increasing the diversity of diseases, enhancing treatment opportunities, large increase in population, social security reforms, and the rapid development in information technology have caused changes in the health sector. Patients’ making decision process about health matter can get more complicated because of competition environment formed due to these experienced changes, and the increasing number of private health institutions. For this reason, the patients got out of their habits and passed from passive state to active state by questioning the treatment process. Hence, emerging problem of hospital choice at this point was evaluated on the basis of Eskişehir city center. It was determined the significance level of factors affecting selection of hospital by patients, and ranked hospitals on the basis of these factors in city center of Eskişehir by means of MULTIMOORA, a multi-criteria decision making model. In conclusion, while there is all kind of services and experts in a hospital is the most significant criteria on decision-making of hospital selection, it was seen that public hospitals’ competition level is in a position to compete with private hospitals’.
