These characteristics have a great importance on upper echelons theory which takes top management teams as a subject of a research. Demographic characteristics include age, education, tenure and functional background. Therefore executive values and cognitive structure form cognitive characteristics of top managers. However, considering these two groups of characteristics together and examining the conceptual relationship seem to be inevitable for a better understanding of this theory.
