Abstract:

In recent years, the efforts of companies to adhere to sustainability principles in environmental, social and corporate governance issues have gained a momentum under the leadership of various international initiatives in this field, and sustainability indicators have begun to be created from companies with socially responsible investments in the world exchanges. This study aims to analyze the long-term effects of being included in the sustainability index in Istanbul by using various panel data predictions methods, and to investigate whether the efforts to be included in the sustainability index have an impact on financial success by increasing the reputation of companies.  The research has found a weak relationship between high performance in sustainability and financial success. This weak relationship may mean that the efforts made to include the sustainability index are not sufficiently assessed by investors.
