Özet:

In the society, it is seen that there have been some stereotypes about nursing profession from past to present. These stereotypes in society affect the thoughts and behaviors of individuals and direct their thoughts and behaviors, whether they want it or not. In the study, it is aimed to make an evaluation about the nature of the stereotypes about the profession of nursing in the light of the concepts related to attitude, stereotype and social information theory. It is seen that the profession of nursing is perceived by the society as "a lower occupational group that is the assistant of the physician who just gives an injection and takes blood." For the stereotypes about nursing profession in the society it is necessary to take actions for the professionalization of the nursing profession. It is thought that these negative stereotypes in the society can to a certain amount be reduced by presenting the profession of nursing as a professional profession, by improving working conditions of nurses, and by offering promotion and career opportunities.
